The
Kemble Cluster (7 schools) have been providing
specialist coaching in tennis and hockey. This also
allows the children to mix with larger peer groups
and take part in sporting festivals. The hockey coaching
took place at The Royal Agricultural College and umpires
were provided by Cirencester Kingshill School’s
Junior Sports Leaders Course. Children’s skills
and interest have been improved. Staff have picked
up valuable ideas and techniques for teaching hockey
and tennis. head@kemble.gloucs.sch.uk
The Patchwork Project (3 schools)
was set up by three infants schools to provide a variety
of multi-cultural / multi-discipline experiences for
pupils, staff, parents and governors with a particular
focus on Year 2. Visits, visiting specialists (e.g.
artists and authors), joint INSET, inter-school visits
have resulted in a wide range of experiences in the
Arts for children who have participated with great
enthusiasm. head@larkfield.gloucs.sch.uk
The
Woolpack Cluster (4 schools) had an ambitious
project to celebrate the local environment
through the visual arts, music and literacy using
a local venue (The Rococo Garden) and local artists.
A music specialist was employed on an hourly basis.
The project culminated in a cluster performance, exhibition
and the production of a CD. A second project explored
Native American culture through dance & art. head@sheepscombe.gloucs.sch.uk
The
Brookdean Cluster (7
schools) is a new cluster which also employed a music
specialist on an hourly basis. Other cultures were
explored through bringing in specialists. Larger peer
groups were taken to live theatre. A similar project
involving dance followed. This cluster also felt that
the project helped dispel local rivalries. head@joysgreen.gloucs.sch.uk
A
Mid-Cotswold Cluster (4 schools) based round Coberley
planned to address OFSTED issues concerning PE, music
and multicultural education. This involved buying
in appropriate specialists in both music and art.
Cluster PE resources were purchased to be shared between
the schools. While funds allowed specialist sports
coaching was undertaken. The children designed stained
glass windows which were manufactured professionally.

Winchcombe Cluster (4 schools) financed joint
activities for pupils and staff across a range of
subjects. This enabled children to meet and work in
larger peer groups and staff to counter the dangers
of professional isolation. Activities which were beyond
the budgets of individual schools became affordable.
Several activities for KS2 took place at the secondary
school. head@oakhill.gloucs.sch.uk
A
