.HEADTEACHERS’ SUPPORT CO-ORDINATORS

This is a partnership initiative between the Gloucestershire Association of Primary Headteachers (GAPH), the Gloucestershire Association of Special School Headteachers (GASSH) and the Local Education Authority (LEA), to offer a wide-ranging independent support service to Headteachers. Duties range from advice and support on a one to one basis to evolving programmes to assist Headteachers in maximising their personal effectiveness skills.

The aims of the service are to:

• Provide fully confidential supportive advice and guidance to Headteachers to help them address professional and personal difficulties quickly.
• To refer Headteachers to other organisations or support agencies as appropriate.
• To help reduce absence and numbers leaving the profession on the grounds of work-related stress

All Headteachers are entitled to a courtesy visit each year. Further visits are at the request of the Headteacher.

We have an answer machine + e-mail addresses + mobiles and all calls are responded to as soon as possible.

Jenny works in the East of the county and Ron in the West. It is recognised that there is a need for flexibility and that the co-ordinators will work in both areas at times.
