Investors in Children Quality Assurance Scheme Accreditation

North Cerney C of E Primary School (38 on roll), near Cirencester, is one of the first schools in Gloucestershire to achieve accreditation to the above scheme. The award has been made in recognition of the high quality of teaching and learning in the Foundation Stage. The provision for the under fives at North Cerney is based on the Bristol Standard Quality Assurance for the Foundation Stage. The standard covers 10 dimensions :

Aims, objectives, values   Planning, assessment and record keeping
  Relationships and interactions   Staffing
Learning & teaching strategies   Equal Opportunities
The physical environment   Partnership with parents
  Learning experiences/curriculum   Monitoring & Evaluation

The early years philosophy underpinning the Bristol Standard Foundation Stage curriculum is in line with North Cerney’s ethos which is that learning should be carefully planned and structured, with an emphasis on activities that are fun, relevant to and motivating for, each child. This recently achieved accreditation formally recognises that the school is delivering the Foundation Stage curriculum in a way that supports children’s learning through planned and spontaneous activities.

This is a significant achievement by a small school ; congratulations to the head teacher and Foundation Stage staff.
