Using ICT to support the work of Headteachers within small schools

Focus: The identification and development of a variety of means by which the use of ICT can assist in the day-to-day working, management and administration of small schools. These lessons to be disseminated to all small schools by means of case studies, resource materials and associated computer files

Success Criteria

  • The involvement of Headteachers from a variety of small schools in production of case studies for each of the above five areas
  • The production and dissemination of a pack of case studies to all small schools
  • The inclusion of the case studies in an in-service training event including presentations by the participating Headteachers
  • A level of perceived usefulness of over 80% for the case studies – determined by survey of a random sample of small schools

Resources allocation and source of funding

  • Allocation of 15 days of ICT Adviser, 25 days of Headteacher time and 12 days from ICT consultations – taken as a subset from current funding of EDP activities

Proposed Developments for 2001 onwards

  • The review and modification of the guidance following implementation within schools
  • The identification of any additional areas where ICT can provide support, the development and dissemination of associated resource materials and associated files
