North Cerney C of E Primary have been working on strategies to bring the spirit of the Excellence & Enjoyment document into the school day

  • play equipment with different themes is put out each day before school. The most popular is circus skills.
  • lunchtime playworkers plan activities for the children every day
  • Celebration Assemblies celebrate out of school successes, good work and behaviour
  • a Hobby Day was held during which specialists gave children first hand experiences of many activities including metal detecting, cookery, jigsaw completion & nail decoration.
  • the School Council are raising funds for playground developments - one highlight was a talent contest
  • some scenes of the Christmas performance have been written & choreographed by the children
  • a governor will be making weekly visits to teach staff and children a musical instrument
  • an Options Afternoon is planned for next year. This will have a rolling programme of activities including astrology, weaving or pottery, drama, carpentry & others to be arranged
  • a youth worker from Bristol has been working with the children on dialects & foreign accents to enhance the multicultural Chritmas Show
  • after school clubs include judo, music, piano, French, tag rugby, football & ICT
