Schools Football Initiative -www.thesfi.com

Longborough C of E Primary (45 on roll) and Stow-on-the-Wold Primary (116) have joined forces to benefit themselves and SCOPE ; the charity which supports people with cerebral palsy.

The Schools Football Initiative provides qualified, police checked football coaches who will come into school and coach the children either as part of the curriculum or as an after school club. Also, a two day half term holiday club was held at Longborough. The coaching is provided for a year with the possibility of a further year. The FSI is responsible for insurance and will complete a TOCA. The form can be found in the ‘Extended Schools : Guidance for Governors’ folder.

The financial side of things involves :-

  • the two schools holding a joint, sponsored sports event in aid of SCOPE.
  • assistance in obtaining lottery funding (forms completed for you and only requiring a signature). Both schools received £5000 within six weeks for transport, coaching and equipment. After paying for the FSI coaching each school had c.£1500 to spend.
