Pauntley School is bursting with excitement at the news that it has been accepted by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to deliver its Primary Years Programme as a Candidate School.

This is the first step in a journey towards full accreditation as a IB 'World School'.

Mary Francis, the head teacher, writes,' Staff and governors have an intensive programme of reorganisation and retraining ahead of them in order to meet the rigorous standards of the IBO, but we are confident that the goal of 'World School' status is achievable within two years. It will be hard work, but it is truly energising. To be part of a system that is a decade ahead of what is on offer through the National Curriculum and its add-ons, is exciting and motivating. We are interested in working with other small schools who share the vision. Give me a call on 01531 820053 if you're interested in hearing about how we got started.'

The Primary Years Programme is explained on the IB website: www.ibo.org.
