With the ever-increasing concerning Health & Safety and school trips in mind the following details of this trip might be interesting to any one who hasn’t experienced PGL Activity Holidays before.

Venue :- PGL Activity Centre, Boreatton Park, Shropshire

The centre is approximately two hours by coach from Cheltenham. It is set in a beautiful, country estate of 250 acres with a lake, a river and extensive woodland. All activities are undertaken on site.

Accommodation :- New wooden chalets with en-suite facilities and central heating have rooms for 4-6 children. Each block of chalets contains two teachers’ and six children’s rooms.

Staff :- All centre staff are CRB cleared and instructors have nationally recognised qualifications in all the adventurous activities offered.

Supervision :- The children are divided into groups of 10 and supervised from 7.15 am to 9.15 pm by their group leaders (Groupies) and instructors. From 9.30 pm to 11.15 pm PGL Staff (‘Street Walkers’) patrol the chalet area.
There is a sick bay which is manned by qualified first-aiders by day and night.

Activities :- The centre offers a wide range of ‘Outdoor & Adventurous’ Activities (from abseiling to quad biking) and ICT Courses. It is possible to ‘mix & match’

The children undertook activities in their groups of ten with two fully qualified instructors for the more adventurous activities such as abseiling. The children’s safety was paramount at all times.

Children are encouraged to take part but allowed to stand aside if they so wish.

ICT equipment and activities were of a high quality with animation and control and film making and editing particularly stretching.

Risk Assessments for all activities are supplied.

Evenings :- The children were fully occupied when the day’s activities finished. Building bivouacs, songs and games, competitions and the swimming pool ensured that they were never bored.

Cost :- £150 per child in March.
